Downfall (US Title). I’ve owned the DVD now for about four months or so, I think. Don’t remember exactly when I bought it, but I bought it at my local Hollywood Video on sale – 3 for $20. I watched four of the six right away, but Layer Cake took me a few weeks to get around to watching. (And holy COW, it was a friggin’ FANTASTIC movie!) I didn’t realize it when I bought this movie, but it’s a German movie with English Subtitles. It’s based on the memoirs of Traudl Junge and takes place over the last 10 days of Hitler’s regime. It’s a *very* powerful movie. I’d have to call it a rare gem found in a pile of crap movies. I really can’t say enough about this movie – it’s very provocative and powerful. If one were to believe it, then Hitler sure threw a whole lot of temper tantrums as his world crumbled around him. The acting, direction, and photography for this movie was very well done and it was a very powerful movie. I highly recommend it to anybody who likes foreign-language films… (Well, except Thies, who’s a Deutschlander anyway. For him, it’s just another film, no?) :-)]]>
