Treo 680. There was a recent update for my version (Finaly!) and I wanted to install it. I knew I’d have to install the Palm Desktop and do a Hotsync for it. Well, this Treo has never been sync’d with a windows computer or any computer with the Palm Hotsync Manager, and I just knew that the first sync would wipe my device clean. So the first thing I did was install BackupBuddy VFS trial and backup my entire device to my SD card. I then removed my SD card and did my first sync. Sure enough, Hotsync Manager wiped my address database clean. Fortunately, the trial version of BBVFS did restores as well as backups. I restored my device and forced a “Handheld Overwrites Desktop” sync and all was good in the world. After that I actually purchased a copy of BBVFS Pro. This is bang-up software! I highly recommend it. Anyway, after all that was done, I ran the Palm Updater, which prodeeded to install the newest system to my device. This procedure has in the past required you to backup your device and restore manually, since the update process wipes the handheld. I was pleasantly surprised to find all my data and programs still intact after the procedure was completed! WoW! Way to go Palm! You’ve finally got it right. 🙂 In other news, I got to take my Shaman back into Karazhan again this evening. We did Aran, Chess, and Prince. Man, I love being a healer. 🙂 Oh, and guess what? I just now received a call from the datacenter techs with a problem at the office. That’s a free two hours worth of pay for me. YAY! Now I go to bed. Thanks for visiting and Keep Coming Back!!!]]>
