Stung in Fresno

sex sting that took place in Fresno last week. After doing some searching I finally found the Article in the Fresno Bee. Now I’m not a fan of the Bee newspapers. I’ve read too many articles that show people, places, and events in a damning light. The scope of this one enrages me. (And it’s not really the Bee’s fault.) Granted, I can understand why the authorities in Fresno dubbed the sting operation "Protecting Our Children" and I’m not saying that cruising for sex in public parks is morally right or wrong. Unfortunately our society frowns on gay men acting out (in any form) in public. If it had been straight couples going off for a quickie in these park bathrooms, they would have been given a slap on the wrist and told to find someplace else to go. In the State of California men caught engaging in public sex are arrested and required to register as a sexual offender. This subjects them to Megans Law, and voids their right to privacy. Now the thing that really pisses me off about this article is that, " Deputies went to homes and businesses to make arrests." C’mon guys! If somebody is breaking the law and you feel this strongly about it, just arrest them on site. It’s embarrassing enough for somebody to have to call their wife or partner from Jail and say, but to arrest them in front of their coworkers is social and profelssional assassination. Granted, these men broke the law. I’m not saying it’s right. Hell, there are places that men can go to have sex in a safe and save environment. But arresting these guys after the fact is insane and just plain mean. I believe that the Fresno PD could definitely have handled this better. I believe that the laws need to be changed. I believe that society needs to change. Until our society continues to frown on alternative lifestyles and marriages, we’ll always have men who are ashamed and feel the need to act out in unhealthy ways. I just wish that this whole situation could have been handled differently. These men weren’t hurting anybody but themselves. Anyhow… That’s enough out of me. Thanks for visiting and Keep Coming Back!!!]]>

  1. The fact that two men caught having sex in a public place, or having someone think they are having sex, being caught, and then having to register as a SEX OFFENDER makes me nearly crazy. How fucking dare ANYONE make such a rule? If I have sex with someone [consensual naturally] and am caught in the act, how in the name of MORALITY and GOD can anyone who is a rational person pass such a law? I can only imagine that the legislators who voted for this law NEVER realized that adults who engage in consensual sex would be forced to register with the police in the same way that rapists and pedophiles have to. And I personally plan to find out who voted for this bill and do all I can to insure their political life is damaged, if not ruined. To think that I’d have to register as a sex offender just because I tried to ‘get a little’ and have some fun is infuriating.

  2. Doooood. Not to change the subject, but I’m just fux0red. My host changed DNS servers, and didn’t advise me that they wouldn’t be able to update my DNS info, even though they’re also my registrars. Now, they’re telling me that my DNS resolution is through Hostsave.com (my old host), and that the old addresses “should work again eventually”. I’ve tried logging in to their registry page (POEhosting.com), but can’t get authenticated – cause I never had to set it up. And InterNIC shows my servers as being POE servers, but they don’t resolve. Now I’ve gotta play the “Fax your ID to your registrar” game in order to get control back OF MY OWN FUCKING DOMAIN. Very nice. Fuck.

  3. … and when you’re finished, may I suggest transferring your domain over to easydns.com? They have a service that’ll not only do your domain name registration, but they’ll do DNS as well. You’re more than welcome to host on my box. 🙂

  4. It does seem a shame that with all the other crime that could be focused on, the authorities has nothing better to do with their time and resources than roust people who were hurting nobody.
AND . . . the methods the police use to “apprehend” these “criminals” — arresting them at work! — seems extremely lacking in common sense and any decency
That said — I =think= those involved could have used more caution and found a more private/appropriate place to become involved with each other. Though, as has already been mentions, if it were a consenting heterosexual couple, they would likely have been adminished on the spot and that would have been the end of it, I’ll bet.
