router for my dad at Central Computer on Friday and almost walked out with a new motherboard, an AMD Athlon XP 1700+ processor, and 512MB of RAM. That would have set me back about $400, which would have almost drained my meager savings account. I’m glad I didn’t. My computer has everything I need at the moment, and it’s no slouch, either. Saturday was the LAN party. Lessee… We played Worms World Party, Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds and True Combat (a Quake III Arena mod). It was cool. I suck at Worms, had the highest overall score even though retiring first at SWGB, and owned at True Combat. I must say, I’m quite pleased – I’ve never been any good at a first-person shooter. True Combat simply rocks. Oh – AND, they make it for linux. YAY! Today (Sunday) was spent reinstalling WindowsXP on my computer. The install I’d had on there had been there since the beginning of the year and was starting to get bogged down. I’m happy to say that WinXP without the UI mods to slow everything down is actually kinda nice to use. I’m sure that within about three months I’ll have it tweaked back to where it was before, but at least I’ll get to use it uncluttered for a while anyway. Besides, when I really want some nirvana in my computing experience, I can always reboot the machine back into Linux or BeOS. Anyway, it’s a holiday week this week and I’m taking the 4th and 5th off. I’m looking forward to being able to spend more time with my friends over the holidays. Maybe I’ll have another blurb up before then, maybe I wont. Until next time thanks for visiting and Keep Coming Back!!!]]>
