Happy Weekend!

Debian on it. It’s actually FASTER in linux than it ever was in 2k – especially on boot-up! Note: This is not my IBM ThinkPat 365XD running at 120Mhz. This is my IBM ThinkPad 560X running at 200Mhz. And this one’s maxed out at 96MB of RAM. The old one maxed out at 40MB. Anyhow, Race 2 at Lausitz is starting now. I’m gonna go watch it now. Thanks for visiting and Keep Coming Back!!!]]>

  1. How’d u get wireless to work on Linux, been pullin my hair out tryin to get that one to work. Which card u usin?

  2. Easy. I compiled the kernel with the drivers for my wireless NIC built in (they can also be built as a module).
Then I installed the pcmcia-cs and wireless-tools packages (the stuff in the wireless-tools package — which is the debian package — is in the pcmcia-cs package for RH-based distros).
Next, I edited the /etc/pcmcia/wireless.opts and network.opts for my network and access point.
Restarted the services on the laptop and — VOILLA!! — it worked!
Of course, the wireless howto (search the LDP mirror on linux.com – http://www.linux.com/HOWTO/ – for more info) helped considerably.

  3. Blah, blah blah blah kernel, blah blah blah wireless, blah blah blah catholic pedo-porn. Ian, get out of the house, man!!!
-He says from behind his desk in a room recently rearranged to make his PC the focal point…(3/15 of a second closer to the coffee pot, too….).

  4. *cough* *hack* *snort* *choke* *giggle*
Ya, I’ll get out of this place one of these days and get a REAL tan. These CRT tans just don’t cut it, unless pasty-white legs are your thing…
    *sigh*
I’m going outside now… Or at least tomorrow when it’s sunny.
